A living sandstone fort rising from the Thar Desert, its golden ramparts and narrow lanes making it one of India's most photographed forts.
One of the few "living forts" in the world, Jaisalmer Fort still houses homes, shops and havelis within its yellow sandstone walls. Its intricately carved jharokhas, narrow bazaar lanes and panoramic desert views from the ramparts draw photographers year-round, especially at sunrise and sunset when the stone glows gold.
